Chalcedony glass is an ancient glass processing technique, known since the times of ancient Rome, which had its maximum dissemination in the glassworks of Venice during the Renaissance. Already at that time the glass masters were in competition with each other and jealously guarded the secrets of the processing techniques so that, to keep them safe, the writings with the instructions for making chalcedony were lost. In the mid-nineteenth century, they were found and since then the production of chalcedony glass sculptures has resumed.
