In Murano the word "cristallo" identifies the transparent glass without any colour and is also called "vetro bianco " (white glass). It is a sodic-calcium glass suitable, unlilke the Bohemian and the English glass, for the complex types of works foreseen by the Muranese technique.
The Murano crystal was invented by Angelo Barovier in the XV Century.
