Morisa

Morisa

The term "morisa" refers to a decorative technique used in glassmaking, in which a wide glass cord, similar to a ring or band, is heat-applied (a caldoto the primary object. This method allows details and texture to be added to the piece. The morisa can be smoothed or further embellished using tools such as borselle  (pliers or tongs used in glassmaking), creating patterns reminiscent of crochet work.

This decorative element, often in the shape of a ring, can be applied to various parts of a glass object, such as the edges of chandelier doors or the sides of a vase.
