The third edition of The Venice Glass Week started on the evening of Friday 6 September 2019 in Campo Santo Stefano in Venice, with the inauguration of the second edition of The Venice Glass Week HUB.
An event that the Veneto Region has officially recognized in 2018 and reconfirmed in 2019 among the "Big Events" that are held every year within its borders. This year there are more than 150 realities, for a total of over 180 events between Venice, Murano and Mestre that from 7 to 15 September 2019 will take part in the initiative promoted by the Municipality of Venice and conceived by three of the leading Venetian cultural institutions who have been working on the theme for years - Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, Giorgio Cini Foundation - LE STANZE DEL VETRO, Veneto Institute of Sciences, Literature and Arts - and the most important associative reality of the sector, the Promovetro Murano Consortium, the Region's brand manager of Veneto Glass Artistic Murano.
Unlike the previous editions, this year the participants were asked to present a new project specifically designed for The Venice Glass Week, like the one proposed by T Fondaco dei Tedeschi, which provides a liaison with the women's prison on the Giudecca Island ; while another novelty concerns the introduction of the Bonhams Prize for The Venice Glass Week , a cash award for the most interesting project, thanks to the collaboration with the Bonhams auction house.
