Born in Treviso in 1901 and deceased in Dolo in 1978, this renowned painter, set designer, and mosaicist taught at the Venice Institute of Art.
Notable for his collaborations with Carlo Scarpa on mosaic designs, Mario de Luigi also designed the monumental mosaic at the Venice railway station. Working under the pseudonym "Guido Bin," he started his design career with Salviati & Co in 1936 and exhibited at multiple Venice Biennales. His innovative "vasi musivi" featured bold color contrasts that deviated from contemporary tastes, presaging the aesthetic preferences of the 1950s and 1960s.
