Conterie

From "count", Portuguese. They mean money. The term is used to identify small beads obtained from sections of perforated cane.

Once upon a time they were called conterie the largest pearls, refined by light, which were also used to be used as exchange goods in the colonized countries and which still today can be found, for example, in Africa, also in very distant and inaccessible places like Agdez, in Niger, on the edge of the desert of the great Tenerè. The term today generally indicates all the processing of pearls (a lume, i paternostri, le margherite, margarite a feraza ..)
Nowadays, by conterie we mean very small for beads. They are obtained by cold drilling thin glass rods. The cylinders that are obtained are subsequently hot-rounded.
