Fritz Dreisbach

Born in Cleveland in 1941, Fritz Dreisbach is a pivotal figure in the studio glass movement, holding four degrees, including a B.A. from Hiram College (1962), an M.A.T. from Oberlin College (1963), an M.A. from the University of Iowa (1965), and another M.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1967), where he was an assistant to Harvey Littleton. Dreisbach has taught at notable institutions like the Toledo Museum of Art School, Pilchuk Glass School, and Penland School of Crafts. A founding member of the Glass Art Society in 1971, he served two terms as president. His work, deeply influenced by the Venetian latticinio techniques of the Italian Renaissance and early American glass, explores the chemistry of glass to enhance its color, optics, and shape.
